I answer questions that interest me
I don't think there is a silly or unimportant questions.
Simply because questions are product of our own curiosity and there is nothing wrong about it.
Even though there are questions that seem to be basic to someone but it doesn't mean that it isn't beneficial to another person.
Well, “silly” and “unimportant” are relative terms. As some others have commented, what is silly for me is very important for someone else. Maybe those are not the adequate terms or these words do not clearly define the kinds of questions that you think we should not answer or pay attention to. In any case, I answer any question that ignites my curiosity, interest or imagination.
The issue may be the relevance of the question for my particular interests, o the clarity with which the question is stated, or the possibilities it offers for us to elaborate on our answers. Some questions are very limited in scope. A simple yes/no question may not allow for a good answer.
I recently asked a question about Venezuelan politics, which for me is extremely relevant but for people who are not familiar with the Venezuelan political situation it may be irrelevant or difficult to answer. For those in the know, the question may be “silly”, based on past experiences of great expectations and no resolution; therefore, an expert in Latin American politics may think I am just asking a rhetorical question as silly as “do you think eating is important?”
I have learned to accept and respect the fact that even the topics that in my view are the most mundane and inconsequential ones have followers and those followers care deeply about it to the point that they may even have heated arguments if it is suggested that they should not waste their time on that.
I actually answer a question yesterday about a topic I could not care less, the Kardashians, and yet I thought it may be good to vent what some people think about celebrities but are afraid to say because of political correctness. I may not waste my time watching videos, pictures or news about them, but I may contribute to the conversation about what they represent to our culture or whether or not it is even worthy that we talk about them.
In any case, as I mentioned before, I would not judge a question silly or irrelevant, I’d just think about whether or not I feel compelled to say something about it. I have no problem talking about science, philosophy, literature, agriculture or pop culture as long as I can handle the topic, and even in some instances where I have no idea what the answer to the question may be, I may feel motivated to respond exactly that, just so the person who asked the question knows that not everybody knows about the topic.
Thus, this is a tricky business, one for which we should always keep an open mind and a balanced attitude so that we all learn in the process, especially considering that so many people from so many cultures are interacting here.
I try to answer questions which are related to topics that i have great knowledge about,i do not love to judge a question and decide whether it is silly or unimportant, the reason is because that question that sound silly or unimportant to me might sound very important and useful for someone else especially the person asking the question..
Musing is a platform for us to share and also gain knowledge,so i always ensure to try my best to share my knowledge concerning topics that i have knowledge about and i do not allow myself to concentrate more on thinking that question is unimportant or not....
Not for the sake of answering questions alone but because silly questions can have more to them even if unintended and that's what might catch my attention.
This question was quite unimportant yet it earned answers.
Yeah I sometimes do that. What seems unimportant sometimes seems interesting to me. Or it's like just expressing my feeling to someone for no reason. I think that is also the reason people ask unimportant question.
I answer reasonable questions.
Saying a question is silly or unimportant is subjective. To be honest, seeing a silly question caught your attention, then that makes it effective. I do answer some silly questions (that's if I consider it is) to just give a chuckle or refute whatever the question is.
I wouldn't accept that any question been asked on musing is silly instead it seems very interesting for someone else to know and also to give is own opinion on it as well.
Asking a silly question isn’t a mistake or wrong. Being silly without asking question is a mistake and wrong. It is better to ask a silly question, than being a silly.
