How does pet dog, cat help in reducing stress in human life?

I have had a dog for about ten years now and I can tell you that it has a huge impact on my life in terms of reducing stress.  I am going to be honest, there are times that my dog causes me stress.  She is pretty high maintenance and has some separation issues from some trauma that happened to her before we rescued her.  The benefits she brings totally outweigh the hard times though.

It doesn't matter how bad my day was at work, there is something about her standing in front of you wanting nothing more than attention and affection that just makes everything kind of melt away.  I love you so unconditionally and they want nothing more in return than love back from you.  It is like it is written in their DNA.  They don't understand life gets rough, they don't understand annoying co-workers or overbearing bosses or any of that stuff.   They just understand love and play time and wanting to be by your side and spending time with you.

There are some times my dog will be in my face and I will just want her to go away and leave me alone.  Then I look at her and realize, she doesn't understand any of that.  She just wants to be close to me and maybe get some belly rubs.  It really gives you perspective and kind of makes all of the other stuff in the world melt away.

She is a pretty special little puppy and I can't imagine how stressed I would be without her in my life.

Those who spend at least 10 mins with pets regularly can benefit significantly in reducing stress. Those who interact with cats and dogs regularly have a significant reduction in cortisol, a major stress hormone. It has already been scientifically proved.

Furthermore, those who enjoy interacting with animals can also experience more positive emotions. Interaction with pets on a regular basis, resulting reduction of stress hormones may, over time, have significant benefits for physical and mental health. That is why many programs are also instituted which are known as "Pet Your Stress Away" which aims at interaction with cats and/or dogs to help alleviate some of the stress of people.

Having a pet cat or dog, you can feel happiness or goodness like when looking at them happy and healthy.

Playful pets can help you relieve your stress especially if you are playing with them. You can somewhat forget about your worries and problems. They can also make you feel loved or valued. Like greeting you whenever you arrived/come home and wanting your attention.
