Depends on how rigidly one sticks to their cultural traditions.
I don’t even know what a bridal train is, never had one at my wedding.
There are two answers to this question and everything depends on how you see it. From a cultural point of view, it may be compulsory. And if you're following that culture, then it is expected that you do things as clearly stipulated.
However, if you want to stay away from the bandwagon of cultural dictates, then it is not compulsory to have bridal train. So, in the end, the bride and the groom have to decide what is suitable for their wedding.
There's no YES or NO response for this. Having a bridal train is subject to the preference of the couple, specifically, the woman.
Some people do it just to add fancy to the glamour on the wedding day. Some, cos they've been advised or cajoled to. While some do not even buy the idea at all.
So, it depends on the individual preference and safe to say it's not a MUST. It doesn't mean that your wedding wouldn't hold or be fantastic without a bridal train.
Nope, my wife had a nice normal white dress! No train required! In fact, it is nice to get something that looks nice rather than the bridal battle armour that is sometimes the norm...
It's not a must.
