Well it depends on if that's the only guaranteed path to a better future or not, if there's another way to have a better future which I can do that's within moral standards then yes I'd do that instead, if not then I guess I'll starve a bit.
I'm actually quite used to doing this, maybe not starving per say, but cutting back on what I eat because I need to save some extra cash to do something in the future and I'm pretty sure alot of people do exactly the same thing. I wouldn't look at it as starving though, I just look at it as making an investment into your future.
Every decision that you make today affects your life tomorrow and the thing about poor decisions are that they collect interest. If you don't start saving money to buy a house today, you'll spend more paying rent tomorrow, if you don't Starve yourself of sugary foods today, you'll probably face a lot of health issues tomorrow so I think I'd definitely starve myself for a better tomorrow.
As long as it guarantees that my tomorrow will be better than today then I'll always be willing to starve myself of certain thing, whether it's food, vacations of a couple of new toys. We can only work with the present to secure the future, the past is already gone and it's only the future that we can look forward to.
I hope this helps.
I would if the better future you speak of is sensible to sacrifice instant gratification for. I often do this and end up being satisfied about my life decisions. Instant gratification does me more harm and knowing how to sacrifice short term rewards for greater long term rewards made my life a bit better.
I would sacrifice things most definitely. I have done it in the past and will if I have to again.
Sometimes in life we take the hard knocks and to rebuild we have to cut back and if it is just eating eggs and bread for a few months then you have to just do it. You will come out stronger at the end of it and appreciate things a lot more.
I appreciate everything I have now as I know all the sacrifices that have gone into what I have today. having done it in the past i would definitely do it again not out of choice but out of necessity.
You can compare it slightly to what i am doing on Steem right now. i am sacrificing my time with my family in order to grow to a point that there will be a benefit hopefully. We all live and hope for a better tomorrow and we have to do these things.
Well, I have seen a lot of people saying that it is necessary to starve at the present so as to enjoy in the future. Some even go beyond just saying it to as far as acting it. Starving themselves or eating poor quality food so as to save up for a 'brighter' future.
I would say that the economy has really affected those people's orientation. The future is never guaranteed to anyone. What makes you so sure that the money you are accumulating would be spent by you? I have seen people suffering and saving to have a better future dropping off dead due to malnourishment or diseases that could have been prevented if they had been eating well. People that did not know how they toiled and sweat for the accrued money eventually ended up being the one to spend the money.
It all points to one thing - that the future is less important than the present because no one is guaranteed to be in the future. I am not saying one should be wasteful or extravagant. However, one needs to take care of himself/herself so as to remain sound and health. To me, the latter are the two most important ingredient for a better future.
To have a better future you must first Plan your ways ahead and safe and invest more sonto have a better future
