It's not quite easy making people under stand steemit especially those that know nothing about cryptocurrency.
Number one challenge is the registration process, the fact that it's not instant
Number two the password key is complex
Number three the curation aspect. How their earning is dependent on others with high steem power.
Number four is how the pay out in been calculated and distributed...
What steem is,sbd, voting power, so much more
Honestly, I think it's the underlying fact that you can't really convince an average human most especially Nigerians to buy into the Steem vision, since most people lack consistency these days.
It's quite stressful when you try to tell someone about a community that rewards people for posting and voting. Whenever I bring this to people, their first question would be ” how fast can I get the money?” And then I’m wondering, why they just want to do sharp things.
It's not easy trying to explain steem dollars and the curation aspect. In fact, because people don't know much about blockchain and cryptos, it makes explaining quite difficult, and frustrating.
When I talk to people about Steem, they want to know where the money comes from and how the blockchain works. I like to explain that stuff, but it's difficult to understand, and you don't need to know everything to get started. The different currencies and different keys are confusing
For a new user, it's more important to learn how Steem works as a social network. For example, it helps to chat on Discord and to comment on other people's posts.
The fact that opening a Steem account currently involves either waiting for several weeks and/or spending cryptocurrency (which isn't quite mainstream yet) makes it somewhat harder to convince people to join, as opposed to other social media platforms.
I couldn't even explain them Bitcoin... I'm better talking in general, like "I'm blogging in English in an international page". Registering issue is really a big problem, "I'm not registered on that page, I can't comment your post" - that was what I heard some days ago.
Not a get rich quick scheme and no assurance you will make the desired money you hoped for
