What are the benefits of fasting?

You will lose weight by fasting so if you have overweight it might be beneficial to do something like 5:2 fast diet (https://amzn.to/2TsutXV). Other than that there is not much benefit of fasting.

Fasting can be unhealthy in some cases when you eat or drink to less or for people that are already skinny. It's only beneficial when you want to lose weight but there are also other ways like sporting more or eating healthier. Or a combination of those things.

Thank you for your question. Fasting is cleansing the body and mind from impurities to be able to connect with a higher power. It consist of doing without food or certain types of food for a period of time, giving up worldly pleasures and concentrating on a more meaningful relationship with your higher power.

For me, the higher power would be Jesus Christ. Others may worship a different higher power.

Some people also fast to bring attention to various social issues, like poverty, unfair treatment of humans, animals, war or the environment.

The Benefits of Fasting:

1. A closer relationship with God

2. Intensifying one’s prayer life

3. Fostering personal discipline

4. Sharpening the intellect, skill discernment and understanding

5. Demonstrating an act of scriptural obedience

Many people lose weight as a result of the fast, but a fast without the spiritual aspect is considered a diet.

Fasting helps to declutter the mind, this is digressing from the spiritual benefits which is grandiose.

From the perspective of what we consume, food that is, it’s easy for both the mind and body to get clogged up and lethargic.

Try power walking after a fast, experience the lightness and surge of energy.

Fasting - what is it?

By normal people's understanding (most likely living by nature), you eat everything, but when you want to eat, no matter whether day or night - you eat only your own or your neighbor grown or hunted, healthy food.

In the city you make your own food and do not eat any fast food, chips, etc.  Also, eat only when you want to eat. it's important to not overeat.

According to the church you are fasting only if you have been made food, not eating yourself, but giving it to someone who does not have it. It's a sacred victim.

benefits - doing so will never be thick or tired of the idea of fasting.
