HOMEQUESTION
Followership seems to be a major factor on other social networking platform in terms of influence. Do you think this plays the same role the steem blockchain?
4 ANSWERS

Followers on Steemit is your support for your account. Without followers you have nothing. The only problem is only about 10 percent are genuine followers who actually engage with you and read your posts.

Every week I aim to grow my followers by at least 10. If only one or two actually follow me properly then I am growing slowly, but still growth.

The accounts that don't have a genuine following and use bots on their posts will struggle when the Dapps are alive and heaving with users. These users wont have any support and growing on your own will be virtually impossible without support.

Yes it does, without fellowship you can't have influence on social media which steemit is a part because you gain influence only by coming in contact with people who are in position. And steemit has several channels for such fellowship. Communities like steemit chat and discord are good example where you meet thousands of steemians with same mission as you . With much engagement you build friends who could be of great help to you.

Fellowship is one purpose of every social network which steemit is not excluded. Just like other social network, you can gain influence through fellowship and engagement

Followers are not a reliable measure of ones success and engagement on the platform.

It's a sad reality, much of that number is just fakes.

And what's the point of having followers that will never engage with your content?

The "replies" section is way better indicator in measuring ones success and network.

The idea of followership in Steemit is not too different from that of other social media platforms. In fact followership is one of the major pattern or framework with which steemit is built around.

The major difference is that the reward system of steemit made it that steemit do not really follow people up for their contents but for the rewards they can gain by contributing to people's posts. Nevertheless that's the idea, it's seem for Steemit, the major drive behind it's operation is the reward and that's the major difference between it and other social media platforms.
