When thinking about custodial and non-custodial, be aware that all Layer 2 chains are custodial.
The funds are either locked in a multisig contract controlled by an organisation (eg Liquid Network) or fully controlled by a few people (eg at Arbitrum One, Optimism, etc.).
Moreover: They own the admin keys.
What does this mean? In short: They could upgrade the contracts any time and they could steal all our funds if they decide to do so.

Great post!! All L2 are centralised and controlled by few. If we speak about ETH I can only say that Decentralised intention is with ZKSync but I am not sure if they will stay on that promise. ZKSync is the first L2 and all others took their development and replicated or modified.

Nothin new, but still people chaisin L2 instead of going to avax subnets. Time will tell.
