Everybody in life sets out to have a comfortable and pleasurable life, avoiding pain, having a good life, a good job and a well meaning journey as a human, and if you question anyone their intentions for their lives they'll say positive things that they hope to do with their lives and this includes everything you've mentioned above. We're naturally programmed to be crave goodness and we possess that curiosity and abilities to strive for this and there is nothing bad about it.
So Is a life that focuses on avoiding pain and seeking out pleasure a good and worthwhile life? I'll definitely say yes, I believe there's no need for us to be in pain and if you look at life in general you'd discover that the need for comfort and happiness is one of the reason why we have so much invention that helps in definitely achieving this cause. In ernest I'm asking why do people need to pursue otherwise? I mean when we say pleasure it can also be defined as comfort and sophistication and even when we look at the Bible which is the holy scripture, there are Many people who were extremely rich, sought after pleasure and a worthwhile life still lived a reasonable and good life. So why shouldn't people now?
In a nutshell, we're not meant or Made to be kept in seclusion or deprived, that's why we're naturally seeking, desiring and alway waiting and wanting to go past each life's stage, so not doing this is like caging we we naturally are. I hope I've answered your question.
It depends on the path you choose as human to follow in life.
some people are driven to suicide by depression and negative events in their lives. But most people, fortunately, are able to find lots of reason to value their lives, and in surveys most people report themselves as pretty happy.
But happiness is usually the result of having a meaningful life, not what makes life worth living in itself.
There are people whose lives are meaningful even though they may not be very happy, for example when struggling with challenges just to see good part of struggle they have lived for later.
